How Pilates Helps You Escape, Even in a Pandemic

Does is seem like the vaccine is so far away that you will be stuck in your house forever? I've got a way to safely escape! You don't need a mask. You don't have to drive. All you have to do, is walk to a room with enough space to lie down and preferably close the door. Lie on a carpet, mat or two towels. Close your eyes and breathe.

Getting grounded in your body and moving with intention can be an escape from the rest of the world. Even if you are just trying to escape from your family.

Pilates has always been an escape for me. Whenever I've needed to forget what was happening in the rest of the world, all I had to do was Pilates. Even just doing the Hundred, breathing deeply in for five counts and out for five counts, helps. I can let go of stress and focus on my body.

Pilates helps you let go of stress and escape, in many ways. Here’s a quick list:

  1. Better focus. The Pilates Method might look easy but it requires a lot of thought and concentration. When you do the exercises you want to do them with good form, instead of carelessly rushing through the movement. This helps you to let go of outside stressors and focus on what’s happening inside your body.

  2. Better sleep! Pilates helps you sleep better at night so you feel more rested and ready to go the next day. When you are well rested you are able to deal with stress with a clear, calm mind.

  3. Better quality movement. Pilates is a very safe and effective form of exercise that helps you give back to yourself without overdoing it. You don't have to push yourself beyond what works for your body. You don't have to workout so hard that you are super sore and tired the next day. You don't even have to do a whole hour to feel the positive benefits of Pilates. So if you have a bunch of tasks piling up but you still want to workout, you can do 15-30 minutes and still get something out of it.

  4. Better balance. Pilates helps you find balance in your body. This also helps you find better balance in your life. Taking care of yourself first helps you to take care of others from a place of abundance, rather than lack.

Pilates isn't too easy. It isn't too hard. Pilates is just exercise and what you make of it. If you want to make it easy or hard you can. You don't need equipment, you just need space to move. Show up for yourself and I will show up for you.

My clients are always so happy they took class. They say they are able to forget for an hour about everything else but themselves and that moment, in their own body. They support each other. They cheer each other on. They show up for themselves each week but also for their classmates. If you want some escape, connection and to feel better in your body, I can help. Pilates is a proven safe and effective workout method. Come see how much better you can feel and how you can cope with all that's going on in the world. We meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 AM CST. If you are ready to give back to yourself, it's one click away!
