About
It all started when she asked for a typewriter at age three…
Heather Holloway McCash has been telling stories since she was a little girl. She asked for a typewriter for Christmas at age three and got one! She’s been writing ever since. She told stories on stage through acting in plays like “The Tempest” and “A Christmas Carol” with Tennessee Repertory Theater. She danced in “The Nutcracker” and “Cinderella” with Nashville Ballet and many dance recitals through various dance schools at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.
Heather went to college for Communications and Journalism at Borough of Manhattan Community College and Hunter College, both part of the City University of New York. She worked in PR for a major bank on Wall Street and then moved to a private financial PR firm. She worked with major news outlets like Business Week, Business Journal and CNBC. Her writing has been some of the most clicked articles on internal websites and CNBC.com. After spending time in corporate America, Heather found a way to make movement and writing a part of her life.
She moved back to her hometown of Nashville, TN where she was certified to teach Pilates. She’s been teaching online and in person since 2010. Heather wrote and published her first book, "But First… A memoir of a backwards life”, released at Parnassus Books in 2016.
As social media became more prevalent she used it more to promote her Pilates business and found she excelled at it. Other teachers asked her to do their social media, blogs and newsletters. Through writing copy for other teachers she helped them create community, awareness and sales. She eventually created a copywriting and social strategy business to write promotional materials for Pilates Teachers and other businesses, Words That Move.
Heather currently balances teaching Pilates and providing marketing support for movement professionals. She writes their newsletters, creates lead magnets to get more people on their lists and gives teachers back their time to focus on teaching. She’s created strategies for teachers to launch new programs, grow their lists and social following and get more business. Heather also writes blogs, social strategy plans and advises marketing strategy.
Heather’s clients have more clients they love to teach. They also have more time to spend with their families, do their own workout and focus on growing their businesses in new ways. Heather loves writing whether it’s for herself or others. Her goal is for all Pilates Teachers to have enough work. She believes that can happen through more effective marketing.
