What Did You Learn in Lockdown?

Lockdown is over for many. Although I see you high risk people. I’m still at home for the most part too. Regardless of wether or not it’s over for you, I want to know, what did you learn during lockdown?

Maybe you took time to do something you love but didn’t have time to do. I am spending a lot more time in the kitchen again. I discovered the most delicious soup and am so thankful for the Instant Pot I caved and bought this fall. I took time to read an actual book, finally finishing State of Wonder. I mostly stick to audio books these days as I have limited time to just sit still and read. I really enjoyed that time spent on the couch turning actual pages.

Did you take some time to move your body? I learned that I have more than I thought in terms of things I can use at home. And the same for my Pilates clients. I’ve always been able to do a lot with a little in terms of teaching Pilates. But I found I could do even more with even less. I had to work around some major setbacks over the past few months. But I did it and I’m still here. I even booked a weekly private session with a teacher I worked with last summer. I’ve also enjoyed walking on the spotty sidewalks in my neighborhood.

Did you take some time to just be? I sometimes sit by the window with my coffee in the morning and watch the cars go by. This reminds me of my time in Brooklyn watching the busy traffic on Flatbush.

I learned in lockdown that I am ready for the next step in my career. So I’m taking it. I learned that I can do a lot with a little. I learned that making the bulk of your meals and not getting in the car can save a LOT of money. I learned that I need to be more intentional with friends in this time. That part of my life needs more work. So I’m working on it.
