March Matness- Sidekick
Dear Sidekick,
You are such an important part of my life. I struggled for years to keep my hips still and stacked. As an adult my hips burned after a few reps and I was lucky to get in just a few variations before I had nothing left. I could have just left you behind. I could have just given in to having hip problems. But I knew you were worthwhile. You are the most important exercise I can do for my hips. I had to do a lot of work around the hips to get to the point where we could have a good relationship again. But now we get along great. There is a lot more stability and less pain in my hips as a result.
I am not really in the snow here. We were walking to the Kindness Is mural we found this random snow set up. So I said we had to stop and take some pictures. This summer around July 4ththere was a background in this spot with George Washington and a random cannon. I don’t exactly know what is happening with this spot but I’ll appreciate it.
This photo op with no explanation is kind of like the Sidekicks. When you first start doing them, you don’t understand why. You have either been on your back or your stomach for the matwork so far. Why does it take so long to get to your side? Why are we doing these seemingly random variations? But there is a reason for all of it even though you may not know it right off the bat. I don’t always tell my clients at first why they are doing an exercise. I give them information with time. Like I don’t know why there is this snow background in the middle of Germantown in January. But it wasn’t going to stop me from laying down and taking advantage of it.
Love,
Heather
