Words That Move

Dear Shoulder Bridge,

You take the anti-gravity of the Scissors and Bicycle and ground it. You are the way to prepare the body to even attempt the Scissors and Bicycle down the line. You are one of the exercises I didn’t think would ever be in my life. I saw your benefits. I saw how we could work well together. I knew I wanted you in my life. But it wasn’t going to happen right away. I had to give myself some time to build the right strength to lift my hips up high. I had to find the way to let go of the front of my tight hips to get them up higher. I had to work even harder on you to find the strength to hold my hips up and add a moving leg into the mix.

This the site of my first date with my husband Steven. We met at the then brand new Pinewood Social for dinner and then walked up this ramp behind it, to look at the city in the freezing cold. I had to give myself some time to see how we could work together. I finally found the strength to let go of old hang ups. I found the way to open my heart to the possibility of a relationship that could work. And here we are a little over five years later. Still with open hearts, still strong enough to stand together. Even stronger so we can lean on each other during tough times. Steven, I am so lucky to have you as my partner and best friend.

Love,

Heather
