Goals- What is Your Why?

Whenever I have a new Pilates client, I ask them why they want to try Pilates and what they want to get out of it. When you are working towards specific goals it is important to know and remember your why. I have found the clients that have clear reasons why they want to take Pilates are more likely to stick with it. If you know why you want to accomplish a goal there is higher success rate of actually doing that.

If you just have a goal of saving money but no specific reason why there will be less incentive to do so. If you have a goal of eating out less to save money for a trip to the beach there is both incentive and a plan on how to make it happen.

Think about your goals and why you made them. Why do you want to achieve these goals? When I first started writing my book But First… I just wanted to tell my stories. When my one of my whys shifted to helping bring awareness to the effects of Lyme Disease, my book was finished much faster. Once you have established a goal, be specific about why you want to achieve it. The more specific your goal is the better.

If you find yourself not making progress ask yourself why you are stuck. Are you doing too much at once? Do you need to try another approach? Do you need to set this aside and focus on something else? Know your whys and the path toward accomplishing goals will become clear.
